A must-read essay from Steven Pinker

Steven Pinker, the Harvard evolutionary psychologist who wrote The Blank Slate, has a great essay titled "A History of Violence" on his website. It appeared in The National Review in March, and does a great job of debunking the Noble Savage myth. Those of us who don't subscribe to TNR can get it from Prof Pinker's website as a 200K PDF. I highly recommend it. (Perhaps growing up without electricity has something to do with my utter contempt for those who think civilisation is bad for us.)

1 I'm curious to find out what blog system you're utilizing? I'm experiencing some minor security problems with my latest blog and I'd like to find something more secure. Do you have any recommendations?
